Job description

The Hyrdo- Jetter Technician is responsible for operating hydro-jetting equipment to clear, clean, and maintain residential and commercial drain, sewer, and pipe systems. This role requires a strong technical understanding of jetting equipment, drain diagnostics, and safety protocols, along with excellent customer service skills, as the technician will interact directly with customers in their homes and businesses. The position plays a critical role in delivering fast, safe, and effective drain-clearing solutions that protect customer property and uphold the company's reputation for quality workmanship.

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities

**

  • Operate hydro-jetting equipment (trailer-mounted, truck-mounted, and/or portable units) to clear blockages in drain, sewer, and pipe systems.

  • Perform camera inspections to diagnose the location, cause, and severity of blockages, root intrusion, pipe damage, or scale buildup before and after jetting.

  • Select appropriate jetting nozzles, pressures, and techniques based on pipe material, diameter, and type of blockage.

  • Identify and communicate additional repair needs (e.g., pipe bursts, collapsed lines, root intrusion) and coordinate with the appropriate plumbing team for follow-up work.

  • Maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot jetting equipment, hoses, nozzles, and vehicles; report mechanical issues promptly to minimize downtime.

  • Follow all safety protocols related to high-pressure equipment, confined spaces, traffic control, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Provide clear, professional explanations to customers regarding the diagnosis, recommended service, and pricing prior to performing work.

  • Accurately complete work orders, service documentation, camera inspection footage/reports, and time tracking in ServiceTitan.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked service vehicle.

  • Uphold company standards for punctuality, appearance, and professionalism while representing the TOP brand in the field.

  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergency drain and sewer service calls as scheduled.

  • Perform other related plumbing support duties as assigned.

**Required Qualifications

**

  • Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on experience operating hydro-jetting equipment, or equivalent experience in drain cleaning/sewer service.

  • Working knowledge of residential and commercial drain and sewer systems, pipe materials, and common blockage causes.

  • Experience with drain camera inspection equipment preferred.

  • Valid California driver's license with an acceptable driving record pursuant to Company policy

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Basic proficiency with mobile devices and field service software (e.g., ServiceTitan) for documenting work.

**Physical Requirements & Work Environment

**

  • Regularly required to lift and carry equipment and hoses weighing up to 50–75 lbs.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, crawl spaces, trenches, and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.

  • Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods.

  • Exposure to wastewater, high-pressure water equipment, and noise from mechanical equipment; proper PPE required at all times.

  • Travel between job sites throughout the assigned service area using a company vehicle.
