) Maintenance Assistant
Location: Royal Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center | Urbandale, IA
Royal Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to help ensure our facility remains safe, functional, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors.
Position Details
  • Status: Full-Time
  • Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair facility structures, including walls, doors, ceilings, windows, mirrors, flooring, and baseboards
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs involving plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, mechanical equipment, and other building systems
  • Assist with light grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, sweeping, and maintaining parking lots and sidewalks
  • Replace light bulbs and ensure all lighting, including emergency and exit lighting, remains operational
  • Assist with the facility's preventative maintenance program to ensure equipment and machinery operate safely and efficiently
  • Move and arrange furniture and equipment as needed
  • Coordinate maintenance work with nursing staff when working in resident care areas
  • Respond promptly to routine, urgent, and emergency maintenance requests
  • Participate in on-call rotations for weekends and holidays as needed
  • Follow all facility safety policies, maintenance schedules, and departmental procedures

Qualifications
  • Previous maintenance, building trades, or related experience preferred
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance preferred
  • Familiarity with maintenance tools, equipment, and cleaning materials
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
