Job Description
Carhart Plumbing Inc. is seeking a dependable Plumber Assistant to support plumbers and field leads with day-today
residential and commercial plumbing work, including material handling, pipe preparation and fitting, tool setup,
jobsite organization, and cleanup.
The Plumber Assistant is expected to work safely, learn continuously, follow direction, and help the crew complete
assigned work efficiently and professionally.
Primary Responsibilities
 Assist plumbers with installation, repair, and service tasks as directed.
 Prepare, carry, stage, and organize tools, materials, fittings, and equipment before and during each task.
 Measure, cut, clean, prepare, and fit piping materials within the employee's demonstrated skill level and under
supervision.
 Help maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area throughout the day.
 Restock and organize company vehicles, tools, and commonly used materials as assigned.
 Anticipate the tools and materials the plumber will need to minimize downtime.
 Protect customer property and finished surfaces while working in occupied homes and commercial spaces.
 Communicate material shortages, damaged tools, safety concerns, or jobsite issues promptly to the plumber or
team lead.
 Perform other duties assigned by management.

conditions, and follow company and OSHA safety practices.
Technical Aptitude Basic understanding of pipe fitting, measurements, angles, hand tools, and common
plumbing materials. Willingness and ability to learn trade skills through hands-on instruction.
Judgment Selects appropriate tools and methods for assigned tasks and asks questions when work is
outside current knowledge or authorization.
Teamwork Works cooperatively with plumbers, leads, apprentices, and other trades to complete
assigned work safely and on schedule.
Communication Communicates clearly and professionally with supervisors, coworkers, customers, and other
jobsite personnel.
Reliability & Time
Management
Reports to work on time, follows daily instructions, stays productive, and completes assigned
tasks within the expected time.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
 OSHA 10-Hour certification preferred; company may provide training if not already completed.
 Basic understanding of pipe fitting and plumbing tools.
 Basic to moderate soldering skills or willingness to learn.
 Basic to moderate brazing skills or willingness to learn.
 Basic PVC pipe installation and fitting skills.
 Ability to measure accurately and work with basic angles.
 Ability to safely use common hand and power tools.
 Personal hand tools appropriate for the position.
 Valid driver's license preferred.
Performance Expectations
 Keep assigned truck, tools, and materials organized and properly restocked.
 Be prepared for the next task by anticipating the plumber's tool and material needs.
 Follow instructions, safety procedures, and company standards consistently.
 Maintain a professional appearance and respectful conduct on all jobsites.
 Demonstrate steady growth in plumbing knowledge, workmanship, and independence.
Travel
Local travel to jobsites is required. Occasional travel outside the normal service area may be necessary. A passport
is not required but may be helpful for rare travel needs.
Compensation and Benefits
 Starting at $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, demonstrated skills, and qualifications.
 50% healthcare match after one year of employment, or earlier if approved by management.
 Five paid vacation/holiday days during the first year, as determined by management.
 After one year of employment, five additional paid vacation days.
Work Environment
Work is performed at active residential and commercial jobsites and may involve heat, humidity, confined work
areas, ladders, construction activity, and interaction with customers and other trades. Employees are expected to
follow all company safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
