Job description

About the Role
Family Dollar is seeking a Product Manager, Global Sourcing to lead vendor strategy, cost architecture, and product execution across Soft Home, Housewares, and Home Decor. This role owns the category from concept to shelf: setting sourcing direction, building supplier relationships that scale, and holding the line on cost, quality, and compliance across a global vendor base.
The right leader operates with full ownership of the category, sets the pace for cross-functional partners, and treats margin and risk as first-order responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Category Sourcing Strategy
  • Own sourcing strategy for Soft Home, Housewares, and Home Decor, setting direction that supports company margin and growth targets
  • Build vendor segmentation and allocation strategy that balances cost, capability, and supply risk across a global base
  • Assess country and vendor competencies, capacity, and growth plans to guide source market placement

Design & Product Development Partnership
  • Partner with the external design and internal merchant teams from concept through development to identify source markets and suppliers for materials, finishes, and products
  • Direct vendor and material research and development to support new product introduction
  • Lead comparative studies across product, cost, and risk to guide sourcing and placement decisions

Vendor & Cost Management
  • Direct RFP processes from vendor identification through award, setting the standard for competitive, disciplined negotiation
  • Build and govern clean sheet costing models that drive pricing transparency and hold vendors to should-cost targets

Project & Program Leadership
  • Own the sourcing calendar and product development timeline across all categories, from concept through on-dock delivery
  • Manage core and top seasonal investments, troubleshooting product development and production issues as they arise
  • Maintain accurate, real-time product data across the PLM system
  • Build the reporting infrastructure that gives leadership real-time visibility into the sourcing pipeline

Compliance & Risk
  • Partner with Trade Compliance to set vendor and factory standards that meet company and regulatory requirements, including forced labor and customs risk
  • Lead ongoing supplier audits and factory assessments
  • Identify emerging supply chain risk early and drive resolution with sourcing agents and vendors

Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Maintain close working partnership with Buyers, Design, and Inventory throughout the product lifecycle
  • Coordinate with QA, Engineering, Testing, Inspections, and Packaging on all new developments
  • Set sourcing direction for overseas offices, suppliers, and service providers that reflects business priorities
  • Bring sourcing recommendations and trade-off analysis to leadership with clear, data-backed points of view

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in global sourcing, procurement, or product development, with direct category experience in soft home, housewares, or home decor
  • Track record of leading complex vendor negotiations and driving measurable cost outcomes
  • Hands-on experience with clean sheet costing and should-cost modeling
  • Working knowledge of global trade compliance, tariffs, and forced labor risk (UFLPA)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple concurrent launches or cost initiatives with full ownership of outcomes
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and PLM sourcing platforms; experience with sourcing analytics or scenario modeling tools a plus
  • Experience working with sourcing agents (e.g., Li & Fung) or comparable third-party sourcing partners preferred
  • Ability to travel internationally as needed

Projected Salary Range: $106,000-$119,250
