POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Hatchery Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing and performing maintenance PM’s and repairs for incubation, vaccination, process, and HVAC systems as well as all automated process control systems at the Hatchery.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Monitor, maintain, PM’s and repair all automated and electrical controls throughout shift for proper operation, makes adjustments and repairs to maximize the efficiency of the equipment.
  • Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses with leadership to diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment.
  • Monitor all operating equipment during processing, diagnose and repair drive-related issues for optimal performance.
  • Maintain SAP, along with maintaining proper records on all equipment.
  • Fabricate steel components; repair, modify, and construct equipment and structure as needed; including initiating work orders.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting bearing failures and repair HVAC units.
  • Safely use multimeters and other diagnostic tools. 
  • Analyze and troubleshoot electrical circuits using Ohm's Law and Kirchhoff's Law. 
  • Performs daily checks on equipment.  Responsible to identify improvement opportunities, communicating those to leadership team and participating in continuous improvement projects.
  • Performs maintenance on building, office, and grounds at the Hatchery.
  • Continues to build skill sets utilizing Impact training, certifications, etc.
  • Assists in other project work or departments as assigned. 
EXPECTATIONS – all Team Members
  • Observe & enforce all company personnel, quality, and safety policies.
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you work effectively and cooperatively with customers, clients, coworkers, and leadership teams.
  • Participates in process improvement and problem solving utilizing continuous improvement and rational thinking methodologies.
  • Must be willing to become confined space certified
  • Must be willing to travel for continued technical training
  • Must be able to wear a full-face respirator to make repairs in the presence of formaldehyde
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Understand safety and quality standards.
  • LOTO trained.
  • Electrical skills required (24-volt, 110-volt, 240-volt, and 480-volt) be able to trace circuitry and read electrical schematics
  • Experience with motor controls and VFD’s required.
  • HVAC skills necessary
  • PLC troubleshooting and repair skill preferred
  • Knowledge of pneumatic air systems necessary
  • Experience in robotics, plumbing and welding stainless steel a plus.
  • Considerable ability to analyze, evaluate and resolve complicated maintenance problems.
  • Considerable ability to operate power tools and machinery.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights.
  • Good communication skills
  • Have the ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • 3-5 years previous industrial equipment maintenance experience
  • Must be able to work in a dusty atmosphere along with temperature extremes and exposure to chemicals.
  • Will provide specialized training where needed.
  • Ability to support and provide coverage on other shift(s) if needed.
