Job description

Nature of Work
Performs work installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, and plant systems.
Essential Job Functions
  • Inspects and tests machinery and equipment; works with staff to detect and diagnose problems; dismantles, cleans, and completes repairs on machinery/equipment as needed; and, works with vendors to troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment; repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulars and related equipment.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Installs, programs and/or repairs automated machinery and equipment.
  • Performs work safely and follows lock out/tag out procedures and other safety guidelines at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Preparation Needed
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma, trade or technical school certification; some related experience.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills; and, knowledge of plumbing, pump repair, welding and carpentry (dependent on area assigned).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; and, the ability to read and interpret documentation such as safety rules, work process instructions, memos, etc.
  • Ability to follow instruction, accept corrections, contribute ideas, and work well as part of a team.
  • May be required to work overtime as needed to meet department goals.
