Job description

Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in Princeton, New Jersey-an independent, Catholic, all-girls PS-12 Sacred Heart school dedicated to educating the whole child and inspiring young women to lead lives of exceptional leadership and service-is seeking a Head Field Hockey Coach for the Upper School.
This is a seasonal, stipend-based position. Compensation is based on a candidate's education, years of experience, coaching experience, skill set, and internal equity.
Upper School Field Hockey - Coaching Details
Season: August 17 - November 14
Practice Schedule:
• Monday-Friday, generally 3:30-5:30 p.m. (preseason hours vary)
Games:
• Primarily weekday afternoons and evenings, with occasional Saturday commitments.
Stipend Range:
• $5,500-$7,000
Head Field Hockey Coach - Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Field Hockey Coach is responsible for leading all aspects of the Upper School field hockey program. The coach will cultivate a positive, competitive, and inclusive team culture while supporting the athletic, academic, and personal growth of student-athletes. The successful candidate will oversee practice planning, game preparation, player development, communication with families, and the overall direction of the program while upholding the mission and values of Stuart Country Day School.
Responsibilities
• Plan and lead daily practices throughout the season.
• Coach all games and competitions.
• Develop athletes' technical skills, game strategy, leadership, and teamwork.
• Foster a positive team culture rooted in sportsmanship, accountability, and respect.
• Supervise and mentor assistant coaches.
• Maintain consistent communication with student-athletes, families, and the Athletic Department.
• Ensure compliance with all school, league, and state athletic association policies.
• Support athlete recruitment and program growth.
• Attend required athletic department meetings and school events as assigned.
Skills & Requirements
• Significant field hockey coaching experience, preferably at the high school level.
• Experience coaching female athletes and working in an educational setting is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of skill development, game strategy, and player development.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to commit to the full practice, game, and event schedule.
