Position Summary

Cedar Gate Technologies, an IQVIA business, is seeking a Development Manager to provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise for applications supporting critical Patient Experience and Digital Health initiatives. This player-coach role emphasizes technical strategy, solution delivery, engineering excellence, and team leadership through influence rather than extensive administrative management.

The successful candidate will partner with architects, product leaders, and engineers to define technical solutions, guide development efforts, mentor team members, and contribute directly to software delivery. This individual will help shape technical direction, drive adoption of engineering best practices, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement while remaining actively engaged in architecture, design, and development activities.

As part of a strategic transformation initiative, this position offers the opportunity to modernize technology platforms, support large-scale knowledge transfer efforts, and help build the foundation for future growth, innovation, and delivery excellence.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for software development initiatives, helping teams deliver scalable, high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead by example as a hands-on contributor through solution design, coding, code reviews, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving.
  • Partner with Product, Architecture, Quality Assurance, and business stakeholders to drive successful delivery of strategic initiatives.
  • Guide technical decision-making and drive alignment on architecture, design patterns, development standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Mentor and coach developers, helping strengthen technical capabilities and promote professional growth.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture focused on innovation, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer outcomes.
  • Drive engineering excellence through source control best practices, code reviews, automated testing, continuous integration, and quality-focused development practices.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer activities to ensure critical business and technical knowledge is captured, retained, and shared across teams.
  • Coordinate development efforts and technical priorities across cross-functional teams to support project objectives and delivery commitments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve application architecture, platform capabilities, development processes, and overall team effectiveness.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor for complex business and technology challenges.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and technical assessment activities as needed.

Job Location

Burlington, MA (Boston) or Greenwich, CT

Work Arrangement

Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 remote). U.S. residents only; all work must be performed within the United States.

Experience / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise-scale software applications.
  • Strong software development experience with expertise in application design, coding, testing, debugging, and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership on software development initiatives.
  • Experience mentoring developers and promoting engineering best practices through collaboration, coaching, and technical guidance.
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, application architecture, and modern engineering practices.

  • Experience working within Agile development environments and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience with source control systems, code reviews, continuous integration, automated testing, and software quality practices.
  • Ability to influence technical direction and drive outcomes across teams without relying on direct authority.
