Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Business Development Intern to be based out of our Irvine, CA location. We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible with an end date in August or September pending the academic schedules.  

Become a part of a dynamic, fast-growing player in Heavy Construction. Shimmick is a national Contractor that has an excellent reputation within the industry and is seeking a qualified individual to join our Southwest Division.  Shimmick takes on challenging projects and performs high-quality work ranging from expanding/constructing water and wastewater treatment plants to construction of the new Gerald Desmond Bridge.

Responsibilities

Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.

  • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study
  • Focus is admin support for BD department. Some events (locally), data entry, market research
  • Needs to sit in Irvine
  • The hiring manager is looking for time management, prioritization, detail-oriented candidates
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursing a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism, English or related field with the intent to continue enrollment after an internship.
  • Must have completed 2 years of study

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A university student that has more than one year of school remaining before earning a degree preferred, these students typically are Freshmen, Sophomores, or Juniors in university.  Successful Interns may be eligible to return for additional internships
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders
  • Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

  • The salary range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00 per hour depending on experience and/or education.
  • A Housing Stipend is available to those who qualify.
