Work Environment

Working onsite at our state-of-the-art hospital facility in Rochester, New York, you’ll be surrounded by a dynamic team of healthcare professionals. The work schedule typically runs from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility required to accommodate patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that directly impact patient care:

  • Delivering direct physical therapy services as directed by a licensed physical therapist, ensuring compliance with the established plan of care.
  • Administering therapeutic techniques to relieve pain, restore function, and optimize the performance of patients recovering from injury or surgery.
  • Guiding patients through active and passive exercises, including muscle reeducation, gait and functional training, and instruction on transferring activities.
  • Applying various physical agents such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electric stimulation to enhance treatment efficacy.
  • Observing patient reactions during treatment sessions and documenting these responses, along with any changes in condition, for communication with the supervising therapist.
  • Providing education to patients regarding the use and care of mobility aids and supports such as wheelchairs, braces, and orthotic devices.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and records in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
  • Engaging in interdisciplinary team meetings and participating in quality assessment and performance improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned to contribute to the overall success of the patient care team.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from surgeries, those coping with chronic pain, and patients undergoing rehabilitation from various musculoskeletal conditions. This role requires a deep understanding of physical therapy principles and practices to effectively cater to the unique needs of each patient, ensuring a comprehensive and personalized approach to rehabilitation.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, complemented by graduation from an accredited physical therapy assistant program with a focus on either science or applied science.
  • Active certification or licensure as mandated by state law.
  • Current certification in CPR, demonstrating your commitment to maintaining patient safety.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable and insured vehicle, enabling transportation to varying patient treatment locations.
Preferred Experience
