The Preferred Therapy Center in Rochester, New York is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our esteemed rehabilitation team on a full-time basis. This position is based onsite at our hospital facility in Rochester, where we provide a collaborative and multidisciplinary work environment. You will interact with an engaging team of healthcare professionals, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists, all committed to optimizing patient outcomes. Our clinic operates Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility required to meet patient needs.

• Assist Physical Therapists in executing personalized treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of each patient, emphasizing improvement in mobility, strength, and functionality.
• Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and stretches aimed at enhancing physical well-being and relieving pain, providing encouragement and support throughout their sessions.
• Educate patients on effective body mechanics and exercise techniques, equipping them with home exercise programs that facilitate a smoother recovery post-treatment.
• Administer treatment modalities, such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy, under the direct supervision of a Physical Therapist.
• Monitor and document patients’ progress meticulously, including recording metrics such as range of motion, strength gains, and functional outcomes.
• Prepare treatment spaces and maintain equipment and supplies to ensure readiness for therapy sessions, adhering to infection control protocols.
• Collaborate with a diverse interdiscipline team to develop integrated care plans that enhance patient rehabilitation experience.
• Foster a supportive environment, offering encouragement that motivates patients during their recovery efforts, and respecting their privacy and dignity at all times.

The PTA will work with a varied patient demographic, including those recovering from surgical procedures, athletes rehabilitating from sports injuries, elderly patients with mobility issues, and children needing specialized therapy. You will adapt your communication and therapeutic approach to meet the individual needs and concerns of each patient to ensure their comfort and empowerment.

• Completion of an Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• A valid state license or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in New York.
• Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques utilized in physical therapy.
• Capable of delivering therapeutic modalities under supervision, with a strong foundation in assisting with exercises.
• Excellent communication skills, allowing you to connect effectively with patients and collaborate with the healthcare team.
• A genuine, patient-centered approach to care, focusing on supporting patients in reaching their rehabilitation goals.
• Ability to tailor treatments for varying patient populations, demonstrating adaptability in your approaches.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage time effectively in a clinical setting.

• Prior experience in a hospital or clinical rehabilitation setting is preferred, although new graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems for maintaining accurate patient documentation.

The compensation package for this full-time position includes a competitive salary ranging from $50,000 to $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
