Job Summary

We are currently looking for a candidate to fill the role of 3rd shift (10:30pm-7:00am) Plating Technician. This position will be responsible to perform a series of operations to complete electro plating process in a proper manner. Perform work assignments covering blades, vanes, clusters, overhaul and repair and OEM parts as needed. This position requires someone with excellent attention to detail and strong math skills.  All training required to run our plating tanks will be provided by Howmet. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Receive cartons and certify part number and quantity received against internal paperwork.
  • Determine appropriate job requirements by reviewing the internal work instructions and paperwork provided.
  • Responsible to visually inspect each piece to ensure proper pre-plate preparation, i.e.: masking, has been completed prior to processing for plating. 
  • Will be expected to perform minor trimming to masking overages, as needed.
  • Attach parts to various plating rack fixtures, ensuring parts are securely in place before submerging racks into tanks.
  • Check fluid levels in various tanks, ensure proper settings are maintained or equipment control panels during plating process, including amount of platinum needed per part to make proper weight gain.
  • Determine amount of platinum plating formula needed based on measurement calculation of surface areas to be plated and number of pieces to be processed.
  • Check PH levels prior to plating process and add appropriate chemical solution.  PH is checked once per shift if parts are being processed; addition of water is controlled by systems controls.  If additions such as platinum or potassium hydroxide are needed, refer to work instructions.  Ensure good contacts are maintained by cleaning bars and making minor adjustments as needed.
  • Monitor amps, temperature levels and solution movement in tanks to ensure proper results are achieved.
  • Move and lift racks in and out of tanks in a timely manner as required throughout each stage process.
  • After process of plating has been completed, Plater will visually inspect each piece, weigh and record output using digital read-out scale into internal record bank.
  • Verify final gain result, meets specification requirements prior to releasing to next operation.
  • Remove all masking by placing trays of parts into electric furnace in an orderly manner, if needed.
  • Ability to use proper and safe containerization methods for all hazardous waste.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Adhere to all company safety rules and practices and wears protective equipment as directed.
  • Perform other job duties as needed or directed by management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • One (1) year of working in a manufacturing or similar environment
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of manufacturing experience.
  • One (1) year of work experience in an aerospace environment.
  • Experience and knowledge specifically to high-temperature diffusion coatings (aluminide, chromide, and platinum aluminide coatings) for gas turbine engine components.

Salary & Benefits

  • Starting salary $25.00
  • Shift differential: 3rd shift $2.00 - Ability to train on 1st shift for several months.
