We empower a diverse range of creators to imagine and develop culturally significant content, while building an organization that thrives on creative ideas, operational expertise and strategic thinking.

ABOUT THE ROLE

FOX Technology is looking for a Director, Platform Engineering to build and lead a new team focused on advancing in-house software development, platform engineering, and AI-enabled capabilities. This role will help establish the standards, workflows, and production-readiness practices needed to take internal ideas from concept to secure, scalable solutions.

You will partner primarily with teams across FOX Technology and Broadcast Engineering to evaluate and mature AI-assisted solutions that support broadcast engineering, operational workflows, distribution, and internal engineering needs. This team will serve as a key bridge between experimentation and production, helping stakeholders turn promising concepts into reliable tools and platforms.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a new platform engineering team supporting in-house development, AI-enabled workflows, and production readiness
  • Establish standards and readiness gates for moving solutions from concept to POC, pilot, and production
  • Partner primarily with FOX Technology and Broadcast Engineering teams to evaluate and mature internal tools that support engineering and operational workflows
  • Create and improve workflows for CI/CD, testing, deployment, release management, documentation, and operational support
  • Serve as a technical gatecheck for AI-assisted development efforts, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable, and aligned to FOX standards
  • Guide the responsible use of LLMs, Claude or similar tools, Python libraries, feedback loops, and emerging agentic workflows
  • Partner with information security to review code quality, dependencies, library risks, data handling, and secure deployment practices
  • Lead agile delivery for approved concepts, translating stakeholder needs into technical requirements, sprint plans, and measurable outcomes
  • Support local compute initiatives that enable shared platform capabilities for FOX Technology and Broadcast Engineering
  • Mentor and develop a small team of software engineers focused on building and operationalizing internal platforms and tools

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Experience leading software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, MLOps, or infrastructure engineering teams
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, CI/CD, testing, deployment, release management, and production support
  • Experience taking internal tools, platforms, or technical products from concept or POC into production
  • Strong proficiency with Python and modern software engineering practices
  • Experience with AI workflows, LLMs, model deployment, inference, training pipelines, or AI-enabled application development
  • Experience with GPU compute, local model training, inference platforms, or high-performance computing environments
  • Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Google Cloud, or similar platforms
  • Experience with Claude or similar LLM-based tools used for software development, prototyping, automation, or productivity
  • Understanding of agentic concepts, feedback loops, human-in-the-loop validation, and risk management
  • Experience with responsible AI practices, model governance, or enterprise technology risk frameworks
  • Ability to evaluate code quality, software architecture, dependencies, security posture, scalability, and production readiness
  • Experience partnering with information security on secure development, vulnerability management, dependency scanning, or open-source library risk
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical decisions, risks, and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Experience in media, broadcast technology, streaming, live production, or content distribution environments
  • Experience with NVIDIA Holoscan or similar accelerated computing ecosystems
  • Experience building internal developer platforms, AI sandboxes, shared engineering services, or model governance frameworks
  • Experience with broadcast workflows, distribution systems, monitoring and control environments, or 24/7 operational technology
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field
  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in AI/ML, Computer Science, or Engineering disciplines is a plus
