Position Summary
We are seeking a full time motivated and skilled OR Circulating RN to join our team. The Circulating OR Registered Nurse will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of patients undergoing plastic surgery procedures in our operating room. This position requires strong clinical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Preoperative Preparation:
    • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure proper patient positioning, equipment setup, and sterile field preparation.
    • Verify patient identification, surgical site, and procedure to ensure accuracy and patient safety.
    • Assist in the administration of preoperative medications and anesthesia as directed by the anesthesia provider.
  • Intraoperative Support:
    • Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the surgical procedure.
    • Monitor vital signs, anesthesia levels, and patient response during surgery, reporting any abnormalities to the surgical team.
    • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and assist with surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment as necessary.

  • Documentation and Communication:
    • Accurately document intraoperative events, medications administered, and patient responses in the electronic medical record.
    • Communicate effectively with the surgical team, anesthesia provider, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care and optimal patient outcomes.
    • Provide thorough handoff communication to postoperative nursing staff to facilitate continuity of care.
  • Postoperative Care:
    • Assist with the transfer of the patient to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) or recovery area, providing comprehensive handoff communication to PACU nursing staff.
  • Quality Improvement and Compliance:
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, satisfaction, and clinical outcomes.
    • Adhere to all regulatory requirements, including but not limited to HIPAA, OSHA, and facility-specific policies and procedures.
    • Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain clinical competence and stay abreast of best practices in perioperative nursing care.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or equivalent required
  • Minimum of two years of experience in perioperative nursing, preferably in a plastic surgery or cosmetic surgery setting.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
