Job description

Job Location: North Vernon - North Vernon, IN 47265. Position Type: Full Time. Education Level: 2 Year Degree. Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000. Travel Percentage: Road Warrior. Shift: Day. Category: Sales.

Position Summary

The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for developing new business opportunities, maintaining strong customer relationships, and achieving defined sales goals within the plastic injection mold making and molding industry. This role combines technical knowledge with sales expertise to provide customers with innovative tooling solutions that meet their production needs.

The position requires the ability to prospect new clients, manage ongoing projects, coordinate with internal teams, and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales and manufacturing process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and expand existing and new business opportunities within target markets.
  • Position the company as the preferred partner for precision mold design, build, and support services.
  • Prepare and execute strategic sales plans, including identifying key prospects, setting activity goals, and tracking progress.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential clients.
  • Manage and update customer information in the company CRM system.
  • Oversee the quoting process, including quality checks, follow-ups, and tracking projects through the sales cycle to completion.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries and provide technical and commercial support.
  • Proactively identify and resolve client issues or concerns.
  • Communicate new product and service offerings, company updates, and technical developments to customers and prospects.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Information Coordinators, Designers, Project Managers, and Production, to successfully close sales and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Represent the company at industry trade shows, customer visits, and other marketing events.
  • Achieve or exceed individual and team sales goals.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily in a professional office setting, with frequent visits to customer sites and manufacturing facilities. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers is used regularly.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands to operate office equipment. The employee may also be required to stand, walk, and travel between facilities or to customer sites.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional overtime, weekend work, or travel as needed to meet business demands.

Travel

Frequent travel to customer locations, trade shows, and industry events is required. A clean driving record is mandatory.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, tool making, or manufacturing within the injection mold or molding industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven technical sales or business development experience with a demonstrated ability to build and grow customer relationships.
  • Strong understanding of injection mold manufacturing processes, mold design, and plastic part production.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling software (UG/NX preferred; Proโ€‘E/Creo a plus).
  • Working knowledge of quality systems and Core Tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP).
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fastโ€‘paced environment.
  • Strong persuasion, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing principles and promotional techniques.
Training

Ongoing training in sales techniques, technical applications, and company product offerings will be provided to support professional development and success in the role.

Additional Eligibility Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field preferred).
  • Ability to pass a preโ€‘employment drug screening.
