    How would you contribute?
    This role is a contributing member of our Airlite - Omaha team, located in Omaha, NE. As a Machinist Tool Maker you are a key to continued growth and success of Airlite. The Machinist Tool Maker is responsible for ensuring molds and related equipment are manufactured and maintained to perform to company standards; responsible for the programming, set up, manufacturing and build of new injection molding tooling, tool repair and fixtures.
    Essential Duties:
    • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of a finished work piece.
    • Plan mode of operations and set up to produce precision machined components.
      Measure, mark and inscribe reference points on materials or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
    • Select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on mills, lathes and grinders.
    • Calculate and program to control machining factors such as speeds and feeds for efficient and safe machining practices.
    • Observe and make adjustments to machinery to maintain part tolerances.
    • Confer with design engineering and management to resolve machining and design problems.
    • Develop sketches and drawings to produce components that do not have blueprint designs with OEM specs to become functional.
    • Fit and assemble precision parts to complete a final assembly.
    • Verify sizes to the correct designed dimension in tolerance on machined parts.
    • Use CAD and CAM to program and operate CNC machine tools.
    • Perform finishing hand operated bench jobs such as filing, stoning grinding and polishing surfaces.
    • Perform final part inspections by using calibrated electronic and manual measuring tools.
    • Measure and determine repairs needed on worn and damaged components in need of metal removal or metal build up for refitting and renewal to operating specifications.
    • Must have knowledge of all basic hand tools, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic principles.
    • Maintain all machine tool preventive maintenance and cleanliness responsibilities as recommended by the OEM.
    • Work closely with the mold maintenance technicians to trouble shoot and repair production mold and printing components.
    • Work closely with the other specialized machinist tool makers and design engineers to correctly complete all new and rebuilding mold activities.
    • Understand all Airlite mold assemblies as they pertain to each individual mold component and how they function.
    • Document any design revisions due to machining mistakes, design errors and refitting activities.
    • Document labor hours used for each job for historical data base.
    • Maintain company attendance standards.
    • Report food safety concerns to management.
      Perform training for new hires.
    • Share job related knowledge and experiences with other shop employees as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Or a minimum of 5 years of machining experience to include CNC and manual machines acquired through a formal apprenticeship program
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals in English.
    • Ability to write routine reports in English.
    • Ability to speak effectively with company employees and supervisors in English.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractional and decimals.
    • Ability to convert imperial numbers into metric.
    • Ability to use trigonometry and geometry formulas.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
    • Basic G code and M code knowledge, CNC programming and Cam experience.
    • Knowledge of basic hand tools, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic principles.
    • Uphold and support organizational goals and values.
    • Take the initiative to ask for and offer help when needed.
    • Ability to work regular overtime, including weekends and holidays as required by company maintenance priorities, machine installation schedules and plant emergencies.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is seasonally and moderately exposed to humid conditions and heat. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, the risk of electrical shock and exposure to extreme molten plastic temperature. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
