Job description

Job Title: Material Handler I – 1st Shift
Location: Westwood, MA
Duration: 9+ Month Contract

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Overtime required as needed

Position Overview

We are seeking an entry-level Material Handler to support daily warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, inventory management, and material distribution. This role involves both physical and system-based inventory tasks within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, unpack, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and invoices

  • Record and process received materials; identify and report discrepancies or damaged goods

  • Prepare outgoing shipments, including labeling, weighing, and documentation of shipping charges

  • Stock and distribute materials to inventory locations and production lines

  • Support stockroom organization and assist with reorganization projects

  • Create kitting packages for assembly and manufacturing teams

  • Maintain accurate records of all material transactions in ERP systems

  • Operate forklifts (preferred experience)

  • Lift up to 25 lbs (assistance available when required)

Qualifications

  • Entry-level opportunity; training provided

  • Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience

  • Prior warehouse, stockroom, retail, or manufacturing material handling experience preferred

  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP highly preferred)

  • Basic Microsoft Excel skills

  • Strong math skills for inventory counts and transactions

  • Good English reading comprehension and ability to follow written/verbal instructions

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment

Additional Requirements

  • Comfortable with physical tasks including lifting and ladder use

  • Willingness to assist team members with heavier materials

  • Reliable transportation required

  • Onsite interview with Hiring Manager and Team Lead
