Engineering Manager - Plastic Injection Molding - Base Salary to 125k/year - Houston, TX

  • Our client, an established custom plastic injection molding manufacturer, is seeking an Engineering Manager for its Houston, TX facility. This 100% onsite position will lead a small engineering team and oversee engineering activities supporting custom plastic injection molding operations, New Product Introduction (NPI), tooling, manufacturing processes, and production.
  • The Engineering Manager will combine hands-on plastic injection molding technical expertise with engineering leadership and project management, working across Manufacturing Operations, Sales, Tooling, Automation, and customer-facing engineering activities. This role will also help establish consistent engineering processes and standards as the organization continues to grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of 3–4 engineers.
  • Manage New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from initial concept and engineering review through production launch.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects, establish priorities, identify technical or manufacturing issues, gather project requirements, and drive projects through completion.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Operations, Sales, Tooling, Automation, management, and customers throughout engineering and production projects.
  • Provide technical guidance related to plastic injection molding processes, injection mold tooling and mold design, plastic materials, manufacturing processes, automation, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, technical drawings, CAD files, and 3D models in support of product development, tooling, and manufacturing.
  • Support Sales and customer-facing engineering activities, including technical quoting, manufacturing feasibility, production requirements, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with tooling and other manufacturing vendors and suppliers.
  • Develop and implement consistent engineering processes, procedures, and standards supporting manufacturing operations and organizational growth.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of technical experience in custom plastic injection molding manufacturing engineering, process engineering, tooling, or a closely related manufacturing environment.
  • Technical experience with plastic injection molding processes, injection mold tooling and mold design, plastic materials, automation, manufacturing processes, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical drawings, CAD files, and 3D models.
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Experience managing engineering projects and supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) or product launches within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience collaborating with manufacturing operations, tooling, automation, sales, and customers on engineering and production requirements.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in Houston, TX.

  • Base salary in the 110k - 125k/year range
