Process Technician – Injection Molding


Pay: $26.00–$32.00/hour DOE
Department: Manufacturing

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Process Technician to support production in a fast-paced plastics manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for optimizing molding processes, reducing downtime, improving production efficiency, and ensuring consistent product quality. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with a strong understanding of injection molding operations and continuous improvement.


What You'll Do

  • Optimize molding processes to maximize productivity and minimize scrap.
  • Start up, monitor, and adjust injection molding machines throughout production runs.
  • Troubleshoot molding defects and implement process improvements.
  • Perform mold and material changeovers while minimizing downtime.
  • Work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain consistent output.
  • Support preventive maintenance activities and identify equipment concerns before they become production issues.
  • Ensure products consistently meet quality specifications.
  • Maintain accurate production records and communicate process changes when necessary.
  • Promote safe work practices and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and efficiency.


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a Process Technician in an injection molding manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of plastic resins, molding processes, and process optimization.
  • Experience troubleshooting molding defects such as flash, short shots, sink, warpage, burns, and splay.
  • Ability to perform mold changeovers and process startups.
  • Comfortable reading process documentation and following manufacturing procedures.
  • Basic computer skills for production reporting and documentation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.


Preferred Experience

  • Experience with scientific molding principles.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with robotic automation or auxiliary molding equipment is a plus.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment.
  • Comfortable working in a production environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
