Job description

MMI Engineered Solutions is currently seeking an experienced Mold Setter to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have at least five (5) years of processing experience (plastic injection molding).  This position will be located at our new facility in Warren, Michigan.

MMI Engineered Solutions provides world-class engineering solutions for advanced composites and engineered resins across multiple industries. We engineer innovative ideas for today's complex design and manufacturing issues. The Mold Setter is responsible for setting molds and starting presses within established process guidelines and reports to the Shift Supervisor.

Schedule B shift:

Week1: Monday till Wednesday: 12:00pm -6:15 pm / Thursday & Friday: OFF/ Saturday & Sunday: 6:00am-6:15pm

Week2: Monday till Wednesday: 12:00pm -6:15 pm / Thursday & Friday: 6:00am-6:15pm / Saturday &Sunday: OFF

Essential Duties include:

  • Monitor. Ensure the process characteristics of the work center are maintained throughout the job to provide quality parts.  Resolve process characteristic if parts produced are not meeting the standard.
  • Plan. This position must work with the setup team (Supervisor, Mold Setter, and Material Handler) to understand what jobs are coming up in the schedule and timing of those jobs. Need to ensure that the tool and any other auxiliary equipment necessary is available and ready at the time the mold needs to be set.
  • Startup/Shutdown. Set mold into press and load process parameters as defined by the process engineer. Produce first good product before the operator's handoff.  Proper removal, cleaning, and storage of mold and all auxiliary equipment after the jobs are complete.

Qualifications:

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of plastic injection mold processing experience from mold set, through successful processing.
  • Capable of effective and cooperative interaction with employees and contractors at all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to be flexible with work schedules and work overtime and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced organization handling multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Demonstrated experience setting plastic injection molds.
  • Proven understanding of plastics processing and history of successful mold set and job start-up skills
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand written instructions.
  • Proven ability to work with others to accomplish goals.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and the ability to apply it in a work situation.
  • Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database, and other applicable software programs
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced organization handling multiple projects simultaneously.
