Job description:


The FITT USA Plastics Extrusion Operator is key to maintaining optimal productivity, efficiency, and quality of our hose products. He/She is responsible for maintaining assigned equipment, making equipment adjustments, and ensuring production standards are met.


This operator must also maintain safety and quality standards according to procedures (Visual Aids, Work Standards, TPMs) set in place by the Quality, Engineering, safety, and Operations departments.

  • Manage the entire extrusion process.
  • Take ownership over assigned area and complete equipment adjustments.
  • Report any failures, malfunctions or damaged machinery to Maintenance and Quality.
  • Follow and maintain safety standards established by EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety Management).
  • Operate Extrusion and Winding machinery while applying work instructions, ensuring that the process runs as stated in procedures, visual aids, and work standards.
  • Follow work instructions to consume raw materials conservatively and efficiently.
  • Fully apply control plan inspections, procedures, records, reaction plans, and escalation processes.
  • Oversee inspection, separation, and control of non-conforming material.
  • Set up and operate extrusion and winding equipment in accordance with established procedures, guidelines, and customer requirements. Ensures that guidelines for the following parameters are met during set up.

  • After proper line set up, request that the Quality Auditor approves the beginning of production.
  • Monitors the operation of the line to ensure flawless production of final hose.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to adjust, position, and secure machinery. Being an Extrusion Operator adjusts and cleans machines.
  • Document/Record work performed as needed based on product and quality needs in working area.


REQUIREMENTS

  • 2-3 years plastics extrusion experience; may substitute 3-5 years of CNC experience. Plastics Extrusion or CNC experience required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.


Knowledge of touch screens and use of:

  • a vernier
  • a flexometer
  • computers
  • semi-automated machines
  • Automated machinery use

General knowledge of environmental procedures and operational controls.


PHYSICAL & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Ability to work different shifts to cover vacations.

Ability to lift and move up to 55 pounds.

Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

May require overtime or weekend work
