What is a plastic consultant?

A Plastic Consultant is a professional who specializes in advising businesses and organizations on the selection, design, processing, and application of plastic materials. They provide expertise on material properties, manufacturing methods, and regulatory compliance, helping clients optimize product performance and sustainability. Plastic Consultants often work with industries such as packaging, automotive, medical devices, and consumer goods to solve technical challenges and improve product development.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a plastic consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Plastic Consultant, you need expertise in polymer science, materials engineering, and manufacturing processes, often supported by a degree in chemical or materials engineering. Familiarity with CAD software, laboratory analysis tools, and industry standards such as ASTM or ISO certifications is typically required.
