Job description

We are seeking an experienced Plastic Extrusion Operator to join our busy, growing, team-oriented company. This is a growth opportunity as we seek to promote from within. Those with previous experience in plastics manufacturing are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Start-up, set-up, running and clean-up of plastic extrusion machinery (extruders, tanks, pullers, cutters, saws, grinders, etc.)
  • Load correct raw material in hopper in quantities to maintain production, mixing material when necessary (typically plastic pellets and dry colorants)
  • Measure and check product at appropriate intervals and keep accurate records
  • Maintain an orderly workspace free of unsafe and unsightly clutter
  • Move materials and products as necessary using fork truck or hand truck (training and certification are available)
  • Assist other team members with start-ups/grinding
  • Document process conditions to assist creation of detailed specifications to assure quality production

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in plastics manufacturing very desirable
  • Previous hands-on experience in manufacturing, mechanical, or related fields
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Basic arithmetic and measurement skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle physical workload in a team environment
  • Stable three-shift, five-day work schedule
