Description:

The Plant Manager in Training program is designed to develop future operational leaders through hands-on experience in all aspects of salvage yard operations. Working closely with Plant Managers and leadership teams, this role will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to oversee production, sales, inventory, safety, customer service, and administrative functions while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.


Through a structured training program, the Plant Manager in Training will learn to lead teams, drive operational performance, support financial objectives, and maintain a safe and efficient work environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to build a career in operations leadership with a clear path toward Plant Manager responsibilities.


This position may train in one or more of the following markets: Memphis, TN; Nashville, TN; Huntsville, AL; and Chattanooga, TN. Travel and temporary assignments within these markets may be required as part of the training program.


Essential Job Duties

  • Train to oversee all departments for the specific facility pertaining to production, sales, administration and distribution.
  • Train to manage human resources for all departments by hiring, terminating, and reassigning personnel to appropriate tasks as required.
  • Train to review all financials for correctness; compare to budget and take appropriate actions as required.
  • Train to interact with customers to determine better service needs and implement changes accordingly.
  • Train to formulate procedural changes for the handling of products to ensure high quality.
  • Train to oversee quality control and implement changes as necessary.
  • Train to chair plant meetings as required.
  • Train to administer disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Attend national plant managers' meetings as required.
  • Train to maintain communication within plant, region and company networks.
  • Initiate and support the continual improvement of the LKQ Corporation quality improvement system.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Not responsible for supervising employees.
Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in the automotive Industry.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proficiency in fundamental math skills, including working with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, as well as analyzing rates, ratios, percentages, and graphs.
  • Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, etc. Ability to create, maintain and incorporate functions into Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, databases, and PowerPoint presentations to support business objectives.
  • Regularly uses moderately complex oral and written skills. May train others in functional areas, interact with others and make presentations to department or middle management.
  • Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.
  • Decisions generally affect oneโ€™s own job or assigned functional area.
  • Results are defined; sets personal own goals and determines how to achieve results with few or no guidelines to follow; supervisor/manager provides broad guidance and overall direction.
  • Handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously with moderate complexity.

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods.
  • The employee may be exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment. Must be able to work in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles that may require getting into awkward positions. May regularly wear personal protective equipment (PPE). May be exposed to extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
  • Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements).
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
