Job description

Overview:

We are seeking a Simulation Engineer to support manufacturing engineering teams in analyzing, modeling, and optimizing vehicle production systems across North America. This role focuses on discrete event simulation, throughput analysis, and material flow modeling to improve manufacturing efficiency, identify bottlenecks, and support new vehicle program launches.

The ideal candidate will have experience building simulation models of production systems and translating complex manufacturing data into actionable insights for plant and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing simulation models for vehicle assembly and production systems.
  • Perform throughput, capacity, and material flow analysis across manufacturing operations.
  • Collect, validate, and consolidate manufacturing data from multiple engineering sources.
  • Build and run discrete event simulation experiments to evaluate production scenarios.
  • Identify bottlenecks, constraints, and inefficiencies in manufacturing systems.
  • Generate reports summarizing simulation results, findings, and improvement recommendations.
  • Support manufacturing engineering teams with process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Extract and interpret engineering data from manufacturing planning documents.
  • Collaborate with Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Conveyor, and Assembly teams.
  • Support validation and updates of station-level and system-level data sets.
  • Contribute to standardized simulation methods, documentation, and best practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial Engineering preferred).
  • Experience in manufacturing or engineering environments.
  • Experience with Discrete Event Simulation.
  • Strong experience in data analysis and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience analyzing throughput, bottlenecks, or production flow.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in automotive or vehicle assembly manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with Siemens Plant Simulation or similar tools (FlexSim, AnyLogic, Simio).
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methods.
  • Understanding of Theory of Constraints.
  • Experience with VBA, SimTalk, or other simulation scripting/programming languages.
  • Experience performing statistical analysis of manufacturing data.
  • Exposure to material handling systems, conveyors, or assembly line design.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience supporting new vehicle or product launch programs.
  • Background in industrial engineering or operations research.
  • Experience working in large-scale manufacturing environments.
