Job description

Scope of Position

In this role, you will facilitate and direct daily production activities in one of Fairport’s operations departments to ensure control and compliance with established process controls and operation procedures. This role will also be responsible for achieving plant requirements for safety, quality, delivery, selects, uptime, throughput, and cost.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Scheduling resources and prioritizing activities to assure efficient production schedule compliance to include product changeovers, upgrades, experiments, new product runs, and training to improve the skill base and flexibility of all department employees.
  • Provide daily directions to production and maintenance employees, technicians, and engineers on established procedures and policies.
  • Communicate and report production and process performance metrics to production teams, plant operations staff and functional leaders. Ensure that production targets and delivery requirements are met on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Engage with plant teams and functional groups responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements & cost reduction projects. Perform performance reviews and develop and reinforce career and talent development plans for hourly/direct labor employees.
  • Ensure that the production process is operating in compliance with established process control set-points and operating procedures. Carry out process discipline and rigorous change control. Develop, implement, and monitor training, qualification, certification and development programs for new and experienced operators.
  • Facilitate and monitor all process/equipment changes and experimental plans involving the production process, including process improvement, new product trial runs, equipment/tooling redesign or component changes.
  • Handling monthly department spending, including variance and actions to improve; Provide input on annual budget & forecasting cycles.
  • Champion safety standards and expectations, including cleanroom protocol.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (Engineering or Science field preferred).
  • 5+ years of frontline supervisory or leadership experience in a plant manufacturing environment, with demonstrated capability to hold people and teams accountable to process control and discipline.
Desired Experience
  • Experience applying problem solving and continuous improvement methodologies: Performance Excellence, DMAIC, Lean, data analysis, etc.
  • Experience working with ERP Systems such as SAP and MES.
  • Understanding technical details and impacts of the process and requirements for successful performance, quality, and delivery.
  • Excellent follow-up and documentation skills.
  • Ability to build relationships within cross functional groups. Ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Good problem-solving, excellent organizational and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Work Hours
  • Standard hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
  • Flexible hours may be required to support off-hour and/or weekend operation requirements.

The range for this position is $98,662.00-$135,660.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
