About the Role
The Plant Controller is responsible for all the daily and monthly accounting, reporting, and internal control tasks required for the Colusa, CA manufacturing plant. The position works closely with Plant Operations and Corporate Finance to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial, production and inventory information for the location. This includes month end close, variance analysis, and all plant budgeting and forecasting. In addition, this position drives the implementation and maintenance of internal control procedures at the plants by ensuring proper documentation and testing for compliance.  
What You'll Do

  • Complete plant month-end close and report on financial results and variance analysis.  Ensure management reporting is correct, timely and in line with operational narratives.  Follow up on management inquiries as necessary.
  • Maintain plant bills of material and ensure accuracy of new item setups. 
  • Record and verify daily plant production.
  • Review and approve final weekly payroll submission for plant.
  • Analyze inventory balances, movements, and procedures and work with the Operations teams to strategize/enact methods to understand and reduce inventory loss.
  • Lead/administer all required physical inventories and cycle count programs.
  • Support year end financial statement audit by providing financial information, reconciliations and any required reporting.
  • Review and distribute necessary reporting for operational and financial performance metrics, including but not limited to yields, OEE's, plant headcount, through-puts, and shrink.
  • Review all CER requests and provide necessary cost savings justifications for projects where it is required.
  • Track, complete and review all capital spending and asset creation for all capital projects.
  • Review plant general ledger account reconciliations and follow up on any concerns.
  • Prepare and review the annual plant expense budget (including support files) and complete all required periodic financial forecasting with the support of Operations.
  • Support Corporate Sales and Plant Operations teams by providing information to complete ad-hoc spending or product cost analyses upon request.  
  • Work with plant operational leadership to determine and implement enhanced financial reporting and analysis that will drive greater operational efficiency and cost savings.
  • Document plant internal control procedures and enforce compliance.
  • Facilitate resolution of all general accounting and reporting issues that occur.

What We're Looking For

  • SAP experience required 
  • Prior experience in cost accounting and/or a plant accounting environment
  • Must be proficient in all areas of Microsoft office, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles
  • Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task
  • Must be able to work independently and make decisions in line with Plant and Finance department objectives
  • Excellent time management skills and job prioritization skills required
Working Conditions
  • General office environment and conditions with regular recurring requirement to move through manufacturing plant floor during the workday to observe inventories, equipment performance, or plant processes.
  • Visual acuity to read and evaluate data 
  • Able to use a variety of communication methods on a frequent basis
  • Ability to operate a keyboard.
