Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Material Planner/Buyer to support our manufacturing operations by planning, purchasing, and managing inventory to ensure the uninterrupted flow of materials required for production. This position works closely with production, engineering, suppliers, warehouse, and logistics teams to maintain optimal inventory levels, meet production schedules, and support company objectives related to cost, quality, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and procure raw materials, components, and supplies to support production schedules and customer demand.
  • Analyze material requirements using ERP/MRP systems and generate purchase orders accordingly.
  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain appropriate stock while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Review production schedules and forecast demand to ensure timely material availability.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding lead times, delivery schedules, and order status.
  • Expedite or reschedule orders as needed to prevent production delays.
  • Resolve supplier delivery and invoice discrepancies in coordination with receiving and accounting teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product introductions, engineering changes, and production transitions.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, and material master data within the ERP system.
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and applicable regulations.
  • Travel occasionally to supplier or company locations as required.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.

Professional Experience
  • 5-10 years of experience in purchasing, material planning, and inventory control within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems.

Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
