Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and client-focused Senior Accountant with advanced QuickBooks expertise to support a diverse portfolio of nonprofit organizations. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced outsourced accounting environment, enjoys managing multiple client engagements simultaneously, and has a strong understanding of nonprofit accounting, fund accounting, grants, and financial reporting.

The Senior Accountant will serve as a trusted advisor to nonprofit clients, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, compliance with GAAP, and effective financial operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing competing priorities while delivering exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities Client Accounting & Financial Management
  • Manage the full-cycle accounting function for multiple nonprofit clients.
  • Perform monthly and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and board reporting packages.
  • Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Monitor cash flow, financial performance, and budget-to-actual results.
QuickBooks Administration
  • Serve as the firm's subject matter expert on QuickBooks Online and Desktop.
  • Perform QuickBooks setup, cleanup, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Design and maintain customized chart of accounts for nonprofit organizations.
  • Build and maintain reporting dashboards and customized financial reports.
  • Train clients and internal staff on QuickBooks best practices when needed.
Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Payroll
  • Oversee AP, AR, and cash management functions.
  • Review and process vendor payments and client billings.
  • Support payroll processing and related reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely collection of receivables and accurate coding of expenses.
Client Service & Advisory
  • Serve as the primary accounting contact for assigned nonprofit clients.
  • Participate in client meetings and provide financial guidance and recommendations.
  • Identify process improvements and implement best practices to improve efficiency and internal controls.
  • Develop strong working relationships with client executives, finance committees, auditors, and external partners.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 3+ years of nonprofit accounting experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial analysis.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously.
