What is a pitching coach?

Pitching coaches are specialized baseball coaches responsible for training and developing pitchers on a team. They work closely with pitchers to improve their mechanics, strategy, and overall performance. Pitching coaches analyze pitching techniques, suggest adjustments, and help pitchers prevent injuries. They also collaborate with managers to make decisions about pitching rotations and in-game strategies. Their goal is to maximize the effectiveness and longevity of their team's pitchers.

How does a pitching coach typically collaborate with other members of the coaching staff and players during a season?

A pitching coach regularly works alongside the head coach, bullpen coach, and trainers to develop individualized training programs for pitchers. They analyze game footage, provide real-time feedback during games, and coordinate with strength and conditioning staff to prevent injuries. Frequent communication with catchers and other coaches ensures that pitching strategies align with overall team tactics. This collaborative environment helps pitchers improve performance while fostering team cohesion.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a pitching coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Pitching Coach, you need in-depth knowledge of pitching mechanics, player development, and a background in baseball, often supported by coaching certifications or collegiate/professional playing experience. Familiarity with video analysis tools, radar guns, biomechanics software, and performance tracking systems is commonly required. Excellent communication, motivational skills, and the ability to build trust with athletes help set top coaches apart. These skills ensure effective instruction, player growth, and team success in a competitive sports environment.

About:

Are you a high-performing sales professional who thrives in a consultative, mission-driven environment? At Vanguard College Prep, our families invest $3,000 to $15,000+ because our curriculum, elite admissions results, and academic coaching are best-in-class. In this role, you won't be pushing transactional software or cold-pitching products-you will serve as a respected Enrollment Advisor, guiding ambitious students and parents through one of the most critical journeys of their academic lives while earning an uncapped, performance-driven income.

Compensation:
  • Base Salary: $45,000 - 55,000 / year
  • On-Target Earnings: $70,000-$90,000+
    • Uncapped performance-based commission
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Health, Dental, and Vision insurance coverage
  • Time Off: Paid Time Off (PTO), paid sick days, plus fully paid winter vacations

As an Admissions Sales Consultant, you will be expected to:

1. Enrollment Consultations & Closing
  • Conduct consultative enrollment meetings with prospective students and parents to understand their academic goals, challenges, timelines, and priorities
  • Evaluate each family's needs and confidently recommend the Vanguard program or pathway best suited to the student
  • Clearly communicate Vanguard's methodology, program structure, pricing, expected outcomes, and value
  • Build trust and credibility with families while guiding them through a high-consideration enrollment decision
  • Effectively identify and address questions, concerns, and objections throughout the decision-making process
  • Confidently ask qualified families for their enrollment and guide them through the next steps
  • Achieve monthly enrollment, revenue, and conversion goals through effective consultative selling
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Vanguard's programs, industry trends, and competitor offerings
2. Pipeline & CRM Management
  • Own qualified opportunities from initial contact through enrollment and successful handoff
  • Maintain accurate and detailed CRM records of consultations, communications, follow-ups, next steps, and sales activity
  • Consistently follow up with prospective families who have not yet made an enrollment decision
  • Re-engage qualified leads who previously expressed interest in Vanguard's programs
  • Maintain an organized sales pipeline and proactively move prospective families through each stage of the enrollment process
  • Monitor individual sales performance, conversion rates, pipeline value, and progress toward monthly revenue goals
  • Ensure enrolled families experience a professional and seamless transition from the sales process into onboarding
3. Sales Development & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with marketing and leadership to provide feedback on lead quality, common objections, competitor activity, and prospective family needs
  • Identify referral opportunities and encourage satisfied families to introduce Vanguard to others who may benefit from our programs
  • Support select webinars, informational events, and community outreach initiatives that generate qualified enrollment opportunities
  • Stay informed about changes in standardized testing, college admissions, and the broader college preparation industry
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Sales Experience: 3+ years of consultative sales experience, including demonstrated success closing high-ticket products or services
  • Closing Performance: Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales and revenue targets; candidates should be prepared to discuss prior quotas, close rates, average deal size, and revenue generated
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to quickly build trust and rapport with students and parents
  • Consultative Selling: Strong discovery, presentation, objection-handling, negotiation, and closing skills
  • Work Setup: Reliable high-speed internet connection and a professional, distraction-free workspace suitable for video consultations
  • Tech Proficiency: Strong proficiency with Google Workspace, CRM platforms such as HubSpot or GoHighLevel, Zoom, and other cloud-based business tools

The ideal candidate will also possess:
  • The ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to explain educational services offered in a clear and impactful way
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities to be able to meet enrollment goals
  • Experience with meeting revenue goals set by organizations
  • Experience in the college preparation service industry
Why you want to be an Admissions Sales Consultant with Vanguard College Prep:
  • Positioned as an Expert, Not a "Sales Rep": Parents respect your insights, seek your guidance, and value your expertise.
  • Career Growth: Opportunities for leadership and long-term career growth
  • Uncapped Earning Potential: Competitive compensation structure that includes commission with benefits
  • Fully Remote Flexibility: Enjoy the autonomy of working from home with regular team collaboration and support.
