PIT OPERATOR/ MATERIAL HANDLER
Automation Personnel Services is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Pit Operator / Material Handler to join a growing manufacturing company in Huntsville, AL. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced material-handling equipment in a fast-paced, industry-leading environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to support production operations efficiently and accurately.
 
Pay Rate 
$20- $22 an hour based on experience
 
Schedule and Hours 
2-2-3 work schedule
6:00 AM- 6:00 PM 
6:00 PM- 6:00 AM
Must work weekends
 
Pit Operator/ Material Handler Operator Duties and Responsibilities
• Safely operate pit equipment, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling machinery to move, load, and stage raw materials and finished products.
• Monitor and maintain material flow into production lines by ensuring proper placement, replenishment, and removal of materials throughout the shift.• Inspect finished parts for accuracy and conformance to specifications using measuring tools such as calipers and gauges.
• Perform routine inspections on equipment to identify mechanical issues, ensure proper functioning, and report any maintenance needs promptly.
• Accurately track, label, and document inventory using scanners, computer systems, or production logs to maintain precise material records.
• Collaborate with production, shipping, and quality teams to coordinate material needs, prevent downtime, and support overall workflow efficiency.
 
Pit Operator/ Material Handler Qualifications and Requirements 
• Minimum of 6 years of recent, verifiable pit operating experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
• Proficient in operating tugger, sit-down forklift, and stand-up forklift with a strong safety record.
• Ability to read and follow production schedules, work orders, and inventory documentation with strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of material-handling best practices and safety procedures, including proper loading, stacking, and movement of materials.
• Capability to lift and move materials up to required weight limits, and perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Capability to lift 50lbs or more
