Pay Range: $55 - $65/hr

Work Hours: Core hours Monday-Thursday 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Friday 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM (flexible schedules available)

Type of Employment: Contract to Hire (6 months / 1040 hours) – Open to straight contract

The Planet Group is currently seeking a Piping Checker for a growing company in the industrial engineering and EPC services industry. Qualified candidates must have **15+ years of piping experience, including extensive piping checking experience within an EPC environment. Candidates must have experience reviewing piping drawings, isometrics, and 3D models, with strong proficiency in Navisworks. Industrial project experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, data center, EV battery, automotive, oil & gas, or pulp & paper industries is required. Job Description

The Piping Checker will be responsible for reviewing and verifying piping drawings, isometrics, and 3D models to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with engineering standards, project specifications, and industry codes. This position will support a large piping design group working on complex industrial projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review and verify piping drawings, piping isometrics, and 3D models for accuracy and constructability
  • Identify design discrepancies, errors, and inconsistencies and coordinate solutions with piping designers and engineering teams
  • Perform drawing checks for dimensions, materials, fittings, equipment connections, BOMs, and design requirements
  • Review piping layouts for clashes, interference issues, and compliance with project specifications
  • Utilize Navisworks for model reviews and coordination
  • Prepare and maintain checking reports, markups, and documentation
  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, and project managers to resolve technical issues
  • Ensure deliverables meet quality standards before release for construction
  • Support industrial projects through detailed design and engineering phases

Requirements

  • 15+ years of piping design experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of piping checking experience preferred within an EPC engineering environment
  • Experience reviewing piping drawings, isometrics, and 3D models
  • Strong proficiency with Navisworks required
  • Experience with Bluebeam and Excel tracking/checking lists preferred
  • Strong understanding of piping standards, codes, specifications, and engineering practices
  • Experience supporting industrial projects such as:
