POSITION PROFILE

The Sales Manager drives hotel revenue through proactive sales, relationship management, and strategic account development across McLemore Resort's corporate group market segment. This role identifies and secures new business, grows share from existing accounts, and executes sales initiatives aligned with the resort's budgeted goals - partnering closely with Revenue Management, Marketing, and Operations to deliver profitable results and an exceptional guest experience. The Sales Manager reports to the Director of Sales.

Business mix spans McLemore's 245-room Cloudland hotel, two award-winning golf courses, and over 20,000 square feet of indoor meeting and event space - creating a diverse pipeline of corporate meetings and conferences. The Sales Manager plays a direct role in filling this space and driving group room nights, banquet and catering revenue, and golf revenue in tandem.

Compensation

Competitive base salary, commensurate with experience, plus an incentive plan tied to achievement of room revenue, banquet and catering revenue, and golf revenue goals.

Essential Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Proactively identify, solicit, and close new business across assigned market segments in the corporate/group business space through outbound calls, networking, site inspections, and industry events, meeting or exceeding assigned revenue and production goals.
  • Build and grow relationships with key accounts to maximize share and profitability using CRM data, market trends, and competitive insight to shape a strategic account and territory plan.
  • Negotiate room rates, catering prices, and contract terms for groups within defined parameters, prioritizing direct, revenue-producing sales activity.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with hotel departments, guests, vendors, and staff to support smooth execution of booked business.

Account Management & Client Engagement

  • Serve as primary contact for assigned accounts, ensuring consistent communication, service excellence, and retention.
  • Conduct site visits, presentations, and client entertainment - including resort and golf course tours - to strengthen relationships and convert prospects.
  • Maintain accurate client profiles, account histories, and activity tracking in the Delphi/Amadeus CRM system.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries, proposals, and follow-ups, exceeding client expectations.

Revenue & Strategy Execution

  • Analyze historical performance, market trends, and competitive intelligence to identify growth opportunities and inform the account action plan.
  • Produce accurate monthly reports, forecasts, and pipeline updates that clearly track progress toward revenue goals.
  • Partner with Revenue Management and Marketing to optimize rates, packages, and promotions - including Stay & Play and meeting/event packages - across assigned segments.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with Operations, Events, and Front Office teams to ensure a seamless handoff from sales booking to service delivery.
  • Participate in weekly strategy meetings, pipeline reviews, and business development discussions.
  • Represent McLemore Resort and the Curio Collection by Hilton brand with professionalism at networking functions, trade shows, and community events.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) as assigned, providing consistent leadership presence and operational oversight.

Professionalism & Development

  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture of hospitality and service excellence.
  • Stay current on market trends, competitor performance, and industry innovations, particularly within the golf resort and group/wedding markets.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Two- to four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a related sales or management role; hotel or resort sales experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of hotel industry negotiating and sales procedures, including group, golf and catering sales.
  • Proficiency with the resort's sales and operations tech stack: Delphi/Amadeus (CRM), Profit Sword (forecasting/reporting), Cvent and Meeting Broker (group and event leads/RFPs), PEP property management system, and MS Office.
  • Strong analytical ability; comfortable managing and interpreting a wide range of performance and market data.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills that reflect the resort's brand image and Hilton Curio Collection standards.
  • Effective listening and delegation skills; able to organize complex projects and set priorities consistent with department and resort objectives.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally and regionally for sales calls, trade shows, and client site visits.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as business needs require.
Physical Demands
  • Outside sales calls, group site inspections, golf course and property tours, client entertainment, and travel to meetings, trade shows, and community/industry functions.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. (amenities, collateral, and materials for sales calls and trade shows).
  • Extended periods of walking and standing during property, course, and event space tours.
