What is a pipeline helper?

Pipeline Helpers are entry-level workers who assist in the construction, maintenance, and repair of pipelines used to transport oil, gas, water, or other materials. They support skilled workers by preparing job sites, handling materials and tools, and performing basic tasks like digging, cleaning, and assembling pipeline components. Pipeline Helpers play a crucial role in ensuring that projects run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This position often serves as a starting point for those interested in a pipeline or construction career.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a pipeline helper?

To thrive as a Pipeline Helper, you need a basic understanding of pipeline construction, manual labor skills, and usually a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with hand and power tools, safety gear, and OSHA regulations is often required, and some employers may prefer candidates with safety certifications like OSHA 10. Dependability, teamwork, and a willingness to learn are important soft skills for excelling on construction crews. These abilities are essential for maintaining safety, efficiency, and effective collaboration on physically demanding pipeline projects.

What are some common challenges pipeline helpers face during pipeline installation projects?

Pipeline Helpers often work in physically demanding environments, frequently outdoors and in varying weather conditions. A common challenge includes maintaining safety standards while handling heavy equipment and materials. Additionally, helpers must adapt quickly to changing project needs and coordinate effectively with other crew members, such as welders and operators, to ensure smooth workflow. Being proactive in communication and attentive to safety protocols can help overcome these challenges and contribute to project success.

What is the difference between Pipeline Helper vs Pipefitter?

Pipeline Helpers often serve as entry-level positions, gaining experience to advance into Pipefitter roles.

How do you become a pipeline helper?

To become a pipeline helper, candidates typically need a high school diploma or equivalent and must be physically fit to perform manual labor in outdoor environments. On-the-job training is common, and familiarity with tools and safety procedures is beneficial; some employers may require a valid driver's license and the ability to work flexible hours. Certification in safety or hazardous materials handling can improve job prospects.

How much do pipeline helpers make?

Pipeline helpers typically earn between $15 and $25 per hour, depending on experience, location, and the complexity of the work. They often work in outdoor environments and may need to operate basic tools and follow safety protocols. Salaries can also vary based on union membership and overtime opportunities.

This is a true hunter role where you'll build your own pipeline, develop relationships with law firm owners and decision-makers, and own the sales process from prospecting through close.

We're looking for someone who understands the challenges law firms face and can confidently have strategic conversations about lead generation, marketing ROI, client acquisition, and revenue growth.

Whether you've sold software, legal technology, CRM, marketing services, case management solutions, or other business solutions to law firms, your industry expertise is what matters most.

If you're energized by opening new doors, winning new clients, and helping law firms grow, we'd love to meet you.

What Your Success Will Look Like
  • Support our team culture by working in the office 5 days a week. This means you'll need to live within commuting distance of the Lehi, UT office.
  • Own the Full Sales Cycle: Generate and close new business by owning the sales process from prospecting through discovery, demonstration, proposal, negotiation, and close.
  • Build Your Own Pipeline: Develop new opportunities through outbound prospecting, networking, referrals, and strategic business development. Success in this role comes from consistently creating your own pipeline.
  • Sell to Law Firm Decision-Makers: Build trusted relationships with law firm owners, partners, administrators, and executive decision-makers by understanding their goals and presenting solutions that drive measurable business growth.
  • Leverage Your Industry Expertise: Use your knowledge of the legal industry to identify business challenges and recommend AI-powered marketing and technology solutions that help law firms generate higher-quality leads, improve conversion rates, maximize marketing ROI, and grow revenue.
  • Become a Product Expert: Develop expertise in Scorpion's RevenueMAX platform, including AI-powered advertising, lead management, websites, SEO, reputation management, revenue intelligence, and client engagement solutions. Conduct discovery calls, customize demonstrations, and recommend solutions that align with each firm's business goals.
  • Deliver Results: Consistently achieve and exceed monthly recurring revenue goals through a consultative, solution-based sales approach while maintaining an accurate forecast and healthy pipeline.
  • Continuously Improve: Seek coaching, embrace feedback, and stay current on legal industry trends, AI, and digital marketing innovations to continuously improve your sales performance.
Who You Are and What You Bring

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Communications, or a related field-or equivalent practical experience.

Experience

  • 4+ years of full-cycle B2B sales experience in a quota-carrying role with responsibility for prospecting, discovery, demonstrations, negotiation, and closing new business.
  • 2+ years of experience selling software, technology, marketing, legal technology, CRM, case management solutions, or other business solutions directly to law firms or businesses within the legal industry. You understand the challenges law firms face and can speak their language.
  • Proven success meeting or exceeding sales quotas while independently developing and closing new client relationships. Experience earning promotions, sales recognition, or President's Club is a plus.

Skills

  • Hunter Mentality: You thrive on prospecting, opening new doors, and winning new business. You're energized by building your own pipeline and owning the full sales cycle from prospecting through close.
  • Consultative Selling: You uncover business challenges, ask thoughtful questions, and position solutions that help customers generate measurable business growth and maximize their return on investment.
  • Technology Proficiency: Experience using Salesforce or another CRM, along with modern sales tools, to manage pipeline, forecast accurately, and drive sales productivity.
  • Collaborative Spirit: You enjoy working cross-functionally with teammates and contribute to a high-performing, team-first culture while remaining accountable for your individual results.
  • Growth Mindset: You seek coaching, embrace feedback, and continuously improve your sales skills, industry knowledge, and business acumen.
Your First 90 Days
  • Learn the Scorpion Way: Complete Scorpion's immersive three-week onboarding program with our Client Experience & Enablement team. You'll develop expertise in our AI-powered marketing platform, consultative sales methodology, and the legal industry while learning from experienced sales leaders and peers.
  • Build Momentum: Begin prospecting, building your pipeline, conducting discovery meetings, and delivering tailored demonstrations with ongoing coaching and support from your manager and enablement team.
