The Storyteller Overland vibe started out as a drawing on a restaurant napkin in 2017 illustrating a desire to help people live more adventurous lives. Back then, very few had ever heard of an adventure van, and some at the restaurant table with CEO Jeffrey Hunter had doubts it would ever sell.

Overview: 

Storyteller Overland is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Electrical & Plumbing Assembly Technician to join our production team in Springfield, MO. In this role, you will focus on the electrical and plumbing installation, working closely with product and engineering teams to build and assemble systems for our vehicles. Responsibilities include wiring electrical systems, installing plumbing components, and ensuring all work meets high-quality standards. You may also contribute to prototype builds, chassis modifications, and the integration of electrical and plumbing systems in living quarters cabs. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will be key in supporting the company’s ongoing innovation and growth.

General Responsibilities:

The following represents a list of essential duties and responsibilities; other duties may be assigned as required:

• Build and wire electrical panels and machines according to specifications.
• Assemble and install plumbing systems, including valves, pipe fittings, and pipes.
• Utilize power tools and hand tools effectively for both electrical and plumbing tasks.
• Use equipment such as pipe cutters, soldering irons, crimping tools, and wire strippers.
• Perform quality checks to ensure proper assembly and functionality of electrical and plumbing systems; partner with the engineering team to pressure test all systems and ensure proper functionality. 
• Identify and resolve issues or malfunctions in electrical and plumbing assemblies.
• Use critical thinking skills to diagnose electrical circuitry and plumbing system problems.
• Understand plumbing diagrams to guide assembly and installation processes.
• Run Pex pipe for basic interior plumbing.
• Work collaboratively with team members to achieve production goals and meet deadlines.
• Communicate effectively regarding progress, issues, and suggestions for improvement.
• Proficient in wiring harnessing, crimping, soldering, and wire routing.
• Assist staff in continuous improvement initiatives, providing feedback and solutions to optimize workflow.
• Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
• Other general duties as assigned. 
  

Work Location:

• In Office, 444 W Tampa St, Springfield, MO 65806

Work Schedule:

• Monday - Thursday 6:30am - 5:00pm with a 30-min lunch

Compensation: 

• Starting @ $20/hour, commensurate with experience + Rewards + Bonus

Physical Requirements: 

• The ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
• This job entails prolonged periods of standing and walking around the manufacturing floor
• Precision and coordination are crucial for assembling intricate components and operating machinery. Employees must be capable of using hand and power tools with a steady hand
• Assembly tasks may require reaching, stretching, and bending to access components, equipment, and workstations as well as the ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch is necessary for accessing low-lying work areas and performing assembly tasks close to the ground
• Employees must have good visual acuity to inspect and ensure the quality of components and products. This may involve reading technical documents and operating machinery with precision
• The role may require the ability to hear and respond to alarms, machinery sounds, and co-worker communication in a manufacturing environment
• For tasks involving computer work or documentation, employees may be required to sit for extended periods
• Exposure to Hazardous Materials: In some cases, employees may be exposed to chemicals or substances used in the manufacturing process. Proper safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided

Education/Experience/Skills: 

• AAS Technical/Trade degree or associate degree preferred, and/or relevant experience
• Automotive experience is a must
• General knowledge of computers, electrical assembly, basic electronic troubleshooting, mechanical assembly and repair, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and/or audio-visual equipment operation desired
• Ability to read electrical/mechanical drawings, schematics equipment manuals, and technical specifications within the first 90-days
• Willingness and ability to learn additional technical skills within the automotive and manufacturing industries
• Able to follow process instructions accurately and consistently
• Ability to handle various tools (e.g. pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g. lift)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Well organized, detail-oriented, and able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
• Self-motivated, able to take responsibility, and a flexible attitude
• Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Valid certification (e.g. ASE) is a definite plus
• A valid driver’s license is required
• Strong knowledge of DC and AC electrical systems and components
• Basic knowledge of electrical measurements of amps and volts
