Job description

Pipe Welder is responsible for welding pipe with tig, stick or mig processes.


Essential Functions:

  • Follow all work instructions given by the Foreman and/or QC Inspector
  • Making welds that pass visual inspection, x-ray or other nondestructive testing that is required
  • Making sure the pipe is square and level when welding and before the pipe is moved from pipe jacks from completion
  • Practice and participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives
  • Perform all work in a safe manner in accordance to Cortex safety policies and procedures
  • Comply with company work schedule, including but not limited to overtime, evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary
  • Comply with company timekeeping policy


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to pass welding test per ASME code requirements
  • Ability to operate overhead crane
  • Ability to use critical thinking to solve problems
  • Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Basic math


Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 5 years of welding experience
  • Pipe welding/fitting experience
  • At least one year of experience in a manufacturing or similar work environment
