Job description

We are growing and looking for Piper Layers to join our construction team. Pipe Layers are responsible for installing underground piping systems including water, sewer, storm drains, and gas lines, ensuring proper alignment, grade, and sealing in compliance with design specifications and safety standards.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and installation procedures.
  • Excavate and grade trenches using hand tools or equipment.
  • Align and position pipes to ensure proper slope and seal.
  • Install various types of pipe (e.g., PVC, ductile iron, concrete, steel) for storm drains, water mains, and sewer systems.
  • Connect pipe pieces and seal joints using cement, glue, or welding equipment.
  • Lay pipe to required depth and alignment based on plans.
  • Backfill trenches and compact earth using manual or mechanical methods.
  • Operate or assist with heavy equipment as needed (e.g., excavators, trenchers).
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure conformance to specifications.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Pipe Layer or similar construction role.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and perform layout tasks.
  • Familiarity with different pipe materials and installation methods.
  • Strong understanding of job site safety practices.
  • Physical stamina to perform heavy labor and work in varied outdoor conditions.
  • CDL or equipment operator certification is a plus
