Job description

HK Solutions Group is seeking a Director of PIPE Services. The position can be based in either Rogers, MN, Lees Summit, MO, or Des Moines, IA. The Director of PIPE Services will support locations in the Midwest and Florida.

Position Summary

The Director of PIPE Services is a senior leadership position responsible for the strategic development, management, and oversight to all Operations within the PIPE Services business unit. PIPE Services offers a full range of CCTV sewer inspection and sanitary maintenance services, including collections system and sanitary sewer cleaning, sewer root removal and pipeline inspections services. Our technicians complete vigorous training, earning Pipeline Assessment and Certification Program (PACP) and Manhole Assessment and Certification Program (MACP) credentials from the National Association of Sewer Service Companies (NASSCO), signifying our commitment to the highest safety and quality standards in the industry as a proactive pipe inspection company.

 

Responsibilities

 

Individual Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key member of executive leadership team. Participate in & support pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models.
  • Help establish Business Unit KPI's, budget/forecasts, and strategic plans that align with HK Solutions Group's plan for growth and expansion.
  • Assess and evaluate Business Unit performance against KPI's, budgets/forecasts, and strategic plans on a daily, weekly, monthly, & quarterly basis.
  • Help establish and communicate strategic operational plans and training programs to ensure continued focus on safety, growth and profit.
  • Establish Roles, Responsibilities & Expectations for all direct reports.
  • Stay on cutting edge of new and improved equipment and processes impacting your business unit. 

Department Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that expectations have been set for each job/project and progress is being tracked and analyzed against such expectations.
  • Ensure that your direct reports are establishing Roles, Responsibilities and Expectations for their direct reports.
  • Hold weekly team meetings with coordinators and managers to discuss:
    1. KPI's - On track, Off track & Corrective Actions
    2. Root Cause Analysis findings
    3. CapEx
    4. Upcoming jobs
    5. Any other necessary talking points
  • Ensure that Department goals/initiatives are planned, communicated, continually discussed, and completed on time.
  • Ensure that project progress reports are being sent to appropriate individuals on a daily basis.
  • Visit your team members including visits to other HK branches and individual job sites.

Leadership Team Member Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and participate in Leadership meetings.
    • Participation includes updating KPI's/weekly tracker, voicing concerns, listening to others, respectfully challenging & holding each other accountable.
  • Provide summaries from Business Unit weekly meetings and other strategy sessions to entire Leadership Team.
  • Work directly with Chief Sales Officer to:
    1. Prepare revenue forecasts (HK &HK branches)
    2. Build quotes for large/complicated projects/bids
    3. Maximize "white space" on the DAILY calendar
    4. Set our crews up for success on each project
    5. Build 1 cohesive team including Sales & Ops
  • Work directly with CFO or Director of Finance to:
    1. Improve working capital & cash flow
    2. Ensure policies & procedures are appropriate & being followed
    3. Prepare expense forecasts
    4. Establish cap ex plan
    5. Build 1 cohesive team including Finance & Ops
  • Work directly with CHRO to:
    1. Prepare & continuously adjust headcount plan
    2. Ensure onboarding & termination processes are being followed
    3. Build 1 cohesive team including HR & Ops 
  • Work directly with Director of Safety & Compliance to:
    1. Prepare safety supplies plan
    2. Prepare & properly administer continuous training program
    3. Build 1 cohesive team including Safety & Ops

Customer/Third Party Responsibilities:

  • Establish & execute Your top 5 & Top 15 customer plans.
  • Resolve customer complaints/issues through direct interaction with sales and the customer as deemed necessary.
  • Represent your business unit at appropriate tradeshows, conferences, and/or events.
  • Ensure that customers are kept aware of project progress, successes and areas of improvement.
  • Directly interact with key vendors to ensure we are getting best pricing and kept aware of new & improved software/hardware/services.
  • Build relationships with position equivalents at other professional organizations to discuss issue resolution ideas and other best practices.  

 Physical Demands

  • Must be able to travel to company locations and field sites approximately 25% of the time (many are day trips; some overnight travel)
  • Must be able to conduct field-level audits and observations, which may require traversing uneven terrain, climbing stairs/ladders, and wearing all required personal protective equipment.
