Job description

ASRC Federal Facilities Logistics, LLC, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is seeking a Maintenance Pipefitter to support our Prime NASA program at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. ย Summary/General Description of Job:

Under direction of the Facilities Supervisor, the Pipefitter is responsible for the daily maintenance of buildings to include assembly and installation of pipe systems and pipe supports.ย  Installation of pipe for steam, hot water, heating, and cooling systems.ย  Piping may include steel, copper, iron, PVC, and plastic.

ย Essential Duties & Job Functions:
  • Able to measure, compute, and determine the correct material needed for jobs; provides orders for materials required.
  • Able to perform physical labor work as required, including installation and maintenance of pipes, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, and cooling as well as plumbing work (ie clearing clogged bathroom pipes and or drains).
  • Working knowledge of Systems to ensure proper operation and to act upon any condition that requires immediate action.
  • Skills to maintain and repair a variety of pipes and related facilities equipment (reading and interpreting distribution maps, pipeline drawings, specifications, chlorinating the distribution system and performing hydrant flow tests).ย 
  • Performs all work in a safe manner in accordance with safety practices and procedures.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
  • Performs duties such as, but not limited to work and shop area clean up.
  • Coordinates with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
  • Performs periodic stock inventories and request material requisitions for replacement items as required.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
  • Assists and supports other departments, staff and/or trade groups as needed or directed.
  • Adheres to the established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other related work as required or assigned.

  • Adherence to all safety, environmental and health rules, and regulations.
  • Harmoniously working with other employees and customers.
  • Working with the Supervisors and Lead to outline work to be done, after which incumbent is expected to work independently.ย

  • Qualifications
  • Education: High School or Equivalent
    4-5 Year Apprentice Program or Equivalent Experience
    Experience: Qualified journeyman in accordance with union rules
  • Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, and tools of the pipe fitter trade.
  • Extensive knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in technology and applicable facility/infrastructure codes and standards.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to pass background screen.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
