Job description

THIS JOB IS AT THE PORT ALLEN PIPE FABRICATION FACILITY IN PORT ALLEN, LA

Job Description: Conducts regular walk-through inspections of Pipe Fabrication Shop and yard and Coatings Facility and yard, identifies, documents and recommends resolutions of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions and follows throughs to ensure that corrections have been made; documents and investigates all accidents; safety violations and other unsafe conditions or activities; complies data, photographs, etc. and prepares all pertinent forms and reports according to corporate procedures and federal, state and local regulations associated with accidents; issues various entry permits (i.e. to confined spaces) as required; assists in emergency rescues as required; assists in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interfacing with management/supervisory personnel; participates in developing and conducting personnel safety training programs.


Qualification Standards:

Technical training and/or industrial related safety experience

Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation

Job site PPE (long sleeve shirt, steel toe footwear, Z87 safety glasses and ear plugs)

Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others at the workplace


Physical Involvement:
Employee may be required to do the following: reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate office equipment; lifting, standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction

Mental Involvement:
Employee may be required to do the following: following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work and selecting proper tools; reading and interpreting load charts; judging distances and slopes accurately; following oral and/or written directions; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards

Location: Office area at fabrication facility
Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground levels; obstructed pathways
Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: predominately indoor climate; various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment etc.

Miscellaneous Requirements:
There will be times that the individual may be required to perform a task other than their normal operation as required by the company or management, owing to the job demand.
