Job description

Position Summary
The Nursery/Yard Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the nursery and yard while ensuring materials, equipment, and crews are organized, efficient, and ready for production. This position leads yard personnel, maintains inventory, coordinates deliveries and equipment, and ensures a safe, clean, and productive work environment.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Supervise the daily operations of the nursery and yard.
  • Lead, train, and support yard employees while promoting a positive team environment.
  • Organize and maintain all plant material, landscape supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Receive, inspect, and unload deliveries, ensuring materials are accurate and in good condition.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of plants, irrigation materials, hardscape products, and equipment.
  • Prepare and stage materials for daily crew assignments.
  • Coordinate with all the managers to ensure crews have the materials and equipment needed for each project.
  • Monitor the health and quality of nursery plant material, including proper watering, fertilization, and organization.
  • Perform routine inspections of equipment and report maintenance or repair needs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard in compliance with company safety standards.
  • Ensure proper loading and unloading procedures to prevent damage to materials and equipment.
  • Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in nursery operations, landscaping, or yard management.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of landscape plants, materials, irrigation supplies, and equipment.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, skid steers, trailers, or other equipment (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills are a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and rain.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and climbing.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment and machinery.
