Job description

Purpose
The purpose of the Performance Training Coach (PTC) position is to enhance the overall wellness of Upper School and Middle School students, and support the mission, philosophy, and operations of the Athletic Department and Pine Crest School. This individual works closely with coaches, athletic trainers, and school administrators to ensure student-athletes receive safe, age-appropriate, and sport-specific physical development training. Promotes injury prevention, performance enhancement, long-term athletic development, and overall student well-being.
Essential Job Functions
  • Provides supervision of students; addresses issues of concern and any type of behavior that does not align with school expectations
  • Keeps Supervisor/Division Office advised of student developments, including academic, behavioral, and emotional concerns for students
  • Ensure training environments are clean, organized and compliant with safety standards
  • Coaches or assists with a minimum of one sport (for a stipend)
  • Chaperones and supervises students at school functions and class trips, including overnight trips
  • Assist with designing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive strength and conditioning program for all Upper and Middle School athletic teams (preseason, in-season, postseason, and off-season)
  • Supervise and assist with the US sports performance and PE classes during the academic year
  • Assist with establishing performance benchmarks and tracking systems to evaluate student-athlete progress
  • Maintain high standards of safety, professionalism, and positive culture in all training environments
  • Work directly with head coaches to develop training programs that support the technical and tactical demands of each sport
  • Partner with athletic trainers to integrate injury-prevention strategies and post-injury return-to-play protocols
  • Communicate effectively with parents, student-athletes, and school staff regarding program goals, expectations, and progress
  • Attend athletic department meetings and contribute to overall sports program planning
  • Supervise the daily operation, scheduling, and upkeep of all strength and conditioning facilities
  • Oversee equipment maintenance, safety inspections, and new equipment recommendations or purchases
  • Teach proper technique for strength training, conditioning, speed, agility, mobility, and recovery
  • Provide education on nutrition, hydration, sleep, and overall wellness
  • Promote long-term athletic development principles appropriate for adolescent athletes
  • Support multi-sport participation and holistic physical development
  • Coordinate and collaborate on weight room schedules and staffing for practices, training sessions, and open hours
  • Markets and promotes all athletic teams/programs at Pine Crest
  • Supports the philosophy of the Athletic Department
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Supervisor or their designee

Job Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in related field required
Experience and Qualifications
Experience training high school or collegiate athletes in a structured program
Minimum 3 years' experience in playing or coaching organized sports
CDL license preferred
Certifications and Licenses
Nationally recognized certification preferred (e.g., CSCS, SCCC, USAW, NASM-PES, or equivalent)
CPR/AED and First Aid certification
