JOB SUMMARY
Assist in implementing and facilitating victim/witness participation in the prosecution of cases through the criminal justice system by performing office and clerical work of moderate difficulty. This is a working/journey position, which works under supervision.

  • The hiring salary for this position is dependent upon experience, qualifications and position funding; starting salaries will require an internal equity review and those that are above the first quartile will require additional approval.

  • Having been disciplined by any employer, including military, as an adult for abuse of leave, gross insubordination, dereliction of duty or persistent failure to follow established policies and regulations.
  • 'Having been involuntarily dismissed, for any reason other than layoff, from two or more employers as an adult.
  • Having held more than seven paid positions with different employers within the past four years, or more than 15 paid positions with different employers in the past ten years (excluding military). Students who attend school away from their permanent legal residence may be excused from this requirement as well as other persons with a reasonable explanation for an extensive job history.
  • Resigning from any paid position without notice may be disqualifying, except where the presence of a hostile work environment is alleged or other reasonable cause existed.

Work in this classification requires an individual to be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Assess and prioritize the needs of victims.
  • Maintain contact with victim.
  • Make referrals to appropriate community agencies.
  • Monitor case status reports.
  • Provide explanations to inquiries about the criminal justice system.
  • Provide victim stabilization.
  • Compile reports and summaries of work.
  • Assist and provide victims with court and release information of the defendants that are in custody on their cases via the phone, mail, or email.
  • Refer the victims to the appropriate person or agency to assist them with the prosecution of their cases through the criminal justice system of Pinal County.
  • Maintain records of all services provided to victims.
  • Provide an annual report to the Attorney General's Office.
  • Update existing policies and educate and inform fellow staff, supervisors, volunteers, and victims about the Pinal County Adult Detention Center's victim rights procedures.
  • Send Customer Service Surveys to victims to obtain feedback information.
  • Maintain and control complex filing systems.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Operate a variety of office machines.
  • Assist with the preparation and publication of informational brochures.
  • Receive and distribute correspondence.
  • Verify and complete records, forms, and documents.
  • Train personnel.
  • Comply with Victims' Rights statutes, ACSA, and Juvenile Court rules.
  • Maintain regular, in-person attendance to effectively perform assigned duties
  • Collaborate and work cooperatively with team members to achieve organizational goals

  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK

  • Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of responsible clerical experience.
  • Arizona residents must have an Arizona Driver's License upon hire; newly established Arizona Residents must have one within 30 days of hire.
  • Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
