Overview

The Structures Division of the H&K Group, Inc. is looking for a Pile Driver to join the crew installing foundation piles, lagging, walers, braces, etc., for excavation support in heavy civil and highway construction projects.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Performs all work according to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Drive pilings for retaining walls, bulkheads, and foundations of structures
  • Confer with Pile Driving Foreman on job specifications
  • Read and interpret load charts
  • Interpret hand signals to determine where materials are to be placed
  • Perform daily inspections on equipment, clean and perform minor maintenance, report malfunctions
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Related experience and/or training
    • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Working knowledge and ability to safety and efficiently understand and direct crane set up and lifting plans
  • Experience and working knowledge of rigging
  • Ability to read blueprints and job-related documents
  • Ability to operate surveying instrument, shoot elevations and straight lines
  • Experience with pile driving and drilling equipment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem solving
  • Ability to travel as required for projects
  • Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
  • Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

 Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution
  • 2 years of relevant experience and/or training
  • Experience operating heavy equipment used in highway construction
    • Specific crane and pile-driving equipment experience strongly preferred
  • OSHA or other relevant safety certifications

 

Physical Demands

  • Regularly stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch or crawl
  • Occasionally required to sit
  • Regularly use hands to finger, handle, feel; reach with hands and arms
  • Regularly talk and hear
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
