About the Role:

Are you certified to teach yoga and looking for a way to give back to your community? The YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking yoga lovers with a passion and talent for relationship building and role modeling a healthy lifestyle. This volunteer position will lead yoga classes, work on strategies to improve members’ experience, and assist in instructing group fitness classes. Join the YMCA and contribute to the success of your community by providing a fun and welcoming space for others.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality instruction of yoga classes for participants of various skills and abilities
  • Deliver high quality services through excellent relationships with members
  • Relay program information and upcoming YMCA events to members
  • Class set up and take down, keeping group fitness equipment organized and in good repair
  • Role model recruitment and retention of members, best practices, and a healthy lifestyle.
  • Demonstrate and promote a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission, vision, and values and the YMCA programs and services.

Qualifications:

  • Current certification in CPR-A is required
  • Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Yoga instructor certification is required
  • Other related certifications (Pilates, Barre, Mind-Body) considered an asset
  • Experience working with others in a customer service capacity
  • Friendly, energetic, positive attitude and organization
  • Ability to lead group fitness programming (including class planning)
