Job description

Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Privacy/PII Compliance Specialist to join our team in the greater DMV area, supporting the Army National Guard.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the privacy/PII compliance program: policies, SOPs, controls, and governance processes.
  • Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and data flow/Data Mapping to identify PII collection, storage, and transmission risk.
  • Review and assess technical and procedural controls for PII protection; recommend and validate mitigations.
  • Investigate suspected data exposures/incidents involving PII; document findings, coordinate remediation, and support reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with RMF, ISSM, IA, legal, and program stakeholders to ensure privacy controls are integrated into system authorizations and operations.
  • Provide privacy guidance/training to teams; develop privacy clauses, data handling guides, and PII minimization recommendations.
  • Maintain documentation for audits/inspections and prepare privacy posture reports and executive briefings.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
  • Clearance: TS/SCI (active)
  • Education / Training / Certification: Candidate must meet ONE:
    • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Software Engineering; OR
    • Completion of DoD privacy/security assessor advanced training (e.g., Security Control Assessor (Advanced) Playlist); OR
    • Relevant certifications (see list below).
  • Experience: PII protection, cybersecurity compliance, or related experience with at least 3 years performing PIAs, privacy assessments, or incident investigations in federal/DoD environments.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of federal privacy law and DoD privacy guidance, PIAs, data mapping, control assessment, incident response coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Communication: Ability to produce decision-grade reports and briefings for technical and leadership audiences.

Acceptable Certifications (one or more preferred)
  • CCISO, CISA, CISM, CISSP, CISSP-ISSEP, CySA+, GSLC, GSNA

Desired / Preferred
  • Prior DoD/Army/ARNG privacy or RMF integration experience
  • Familiarity with system authorization (ATO) processes and evidence requirements
  • Experience with data discovery/classification tools, DLP, and secure data handling in cloud and hybrid environments

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
