Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU (PICU) travel contract in El Paso, TX, requiring at least 1 year of recent PICU experience and active TX or compact RN license.

Details
  • Located in a hospital PICU unit with a combined 19 beds (10 PICU and 9 Peds)
  • Patient ratios: 1:2 PICU; 1:3 IMC (1:4 with PCT); 1:5 Peds (1:6 with PCT)
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Weekend requirement: 4 weekends per month (PM shift covers Friday and Saturday)
  • No on-call requirements
  • Procedures performed on the unit include lumbar punctures, intubations, chest tube placements, and conscious sedation
  • Equipment used includes Hillrom beds, GE monitors, ICU Plum 360 infusion pumps, and Medfusion syringe pumps
  • EMR: Meditech
Requirements
  • Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA or ARC accepted; no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Pediatric ICU (PICU) experience required
  • Pediatric and Pediatric ICU experience are both required
  • US SSN and DOB required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
  • One professional reference required
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
  • The unit cares for a wide spectrum of pediatric patients ranging from surgical cases such as appendicitis to critically ill patients requiring vasoactive drips and mechanical ventilation for septic shock
  • Unit staffing includes a charge nurse and 3–4 nurses per shift for both day and night shifts
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
  • Galaxy blue scrubs are required
  • Candidates who are adaptable and collaborative team players are the best fit for this unit
