A pickup truck owner operator’s duties are to pick up, transport, and deliver freight. Owner operators may work as independent contractors or for a trucking service. As an owner operator, you own your own vehicle, and your responsibilities include keeping the vehicle and any additional equipment, such as trailers, hitching equipment, straps, and dollies, in good working condition. Upon delivery, you must also document your work and provide the recipient with any billing or order paperwork and relay any additional information to the sender or to the delivery company with which you have contracted.
