Openwork is seeking a Pickup Truck Dispatcher on behalf of our client to join their operations team. This is a direct hire opportunity with a stable, growing transportation company that has been serving customers for over 25 years.
In this role, you will coordinate pickup truck owner-operators hauling time-critical hot shot freight throughout Texas and across the continental United States. We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively, and enjoys solving logistics challenges while delivering exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
  • Dispatch pickup truck owner-operators for time-sensitive hot shot freight.
  • Coordinate freight movements throughout Texas and the continental United States.
  • Match available equipment with customer freight based on size, weight, location, and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor shipments from pickup through delivery and provide proactive updates to customers.
  • Resolve service issues quickly while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, sales, and operations teams.
  • Maintain accurate shipment records, dispatch notes, and load information within the Transportation Management System (TMS).
  • Ensure drivers comply with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and company policies.
  • Assist with occasional after-hours or weekend coverage as part of our 24/7 operation.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of dispatch experience in hot shot, expedited, flatbed, or open-deck transportation.
  • Strong knowledge of pickup truck dispatch operations.
  • Experience dispatching owner-operators.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
  • Proficient with computers and able to quickly learn transportation management software.
