What is the Opportunity?

RBC Trade Finance Technology team is responsible for developing, enhancing and maintaining applications serving business, operational teams and RBC customers.

As a Senior Full Stack Software Developer operating within an Agile team, your primary role will be designing, coding and delivering highest-quality software solutions. You will also be expected to play a key role in building modern applications to support business growth. We are looking for a highly motivated, top-notch software engineer who is a great team player constantly thinking about quality, maintainability, robustness, and simplicity in all generated code.

What will you do?

  • Analyze, debug and resolve production or risk issues related to, but not limited to application stabilities, application performance, cyber security, and system latency.

  • Proactively identify operational risks/control deficiencies & opportunities for automation within the platform to increase productivity.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (product, architecture, security) to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

  • Support and conduct releases impact technical assessment, PIV for applications and infrastructure related initiatives.

  • Work in an Agile team environment which is fast-paced, fun and collaborative

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related fields.

  • Experience with Java/Spring Boot/JMS/Kafka/MongoDB/MQ for building modern applications with Cloud platforms (OpenShift, AWS, Azure).

  • Proven experience with integrating backend services utilizing REST to integrate and collaborate effectively between backend and frontend systems

  • Hands-on experience in modernizing legacy systems, including refactoring codebases and migrating to modern architectures or frameworks.

  • Hands-on experience with Github, GitHub Actions, Jira, and Confluence.

  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written).

Nice to have:

  • Experience with using Gen AI developer productivity boost tools.

  • Quick learner with aptitude to pick up new technologies and business knowledge.

  • Highly motivated with the capability to work independently and effectively, but with willingness and a great attitude for collaboration.

  • Experience with Angular.

  • Understanding of Test-Driven Development and Behavior Driven Development.
