Job description

Position Overview:

The Parts Specialist manages parts inventory needed by technicians to keep major components
(engines, compressors, control panels, etc.) operating in revenue service.

Responsibilities/Job Duties:

  • Orders parts from vendors to maintain established minimum stocking levels
  • Receives parts from vendors
  • Picks parts from inventory to refill inventories
  • Ships parts to customers
  • Maintains accurate inventory records of parts ordered, parts received, parts sold, and parts distributed or shipped
  • Generates and transmits information on parts quantities, pricing, and delivery charges to
  • support customer invoicing
  • Inspects parts for defects and specification compliance
  • Adhere to safety requirements by wearing appropriate protective gear
  • Acknowledges customer/technician telephone calls, voicemail, and electronic mail promptly and courteously
  • Helps technicians to determine exactly what parts to order based on description of the part and its location in the compressor package and consultation of the “as built” engineering drawings for that package
  • Reads vendor catalogs (on-line when available) to determine part stock numbers and pricing
  • Maintains  awareness of  vendor  discontinuance of  parts  and  possible  “aftermarket”  sources  of acceptable functionally equivalent alternative parts
  • Generates purchase orders for parts and transmits them to vendors (via vendor automated on-line order entry system where available) and the Supervisor
  • Receives ordered parts and counts, inspects, and stores them consistently in appropriate locations
  • Records  receipt  of  ordered  parts  and  their  storage  locations;  transmits  information  to  the Supervisor needed to support vendor invoice payment
  • Picks  and  packages  parts  orders,  weighs  outgoing  packages,  prepares  shipping  labels,  and contacts delivery service for package pick up; informs customers of shipment dates and times,arrival estimates, and package tracking numbers
  • Removes parts distributed to technicians or shipped to customers from inventory records
  • Transmits information on parts shipped, quantities, pricing, and delivery charges to the Supervisor for customer billing
  • Participate in various training programs to enhance compressor product and computer system knowledge
  • Assist with Warranty Claims per manufacturer’s guidelines
  • Work weekend/afterhours call out shifts
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school graduation OR the ability to read and write in English at the 12th grade level and perform basic mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages)
  • Three years of experience in a mechanical, electrical, electronic, or plumbing parts sales organization
  • Significant experience in using Microsoft Excel and Word, Adobe Acrobat, and an inventory management software package
  • Ability to identify parts in engineering drawings
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast pace environment
  • Prefer oilfield equipment, preferably compressor, parts sales experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, sit and/or walk on a hard surface as well as safely bend, stoop, reach, climb steps, and use ladder for long periods of time daily
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Vision required: 20/40 with or without corrective lenses to accurately read all related distribution documents
  • Ability to communicate verbally using a telephone
